Foundation 2 – Butterflies

Hello, welcome to our Butterflies class page!

We are looking forward to an exciting year in Butterfly class. We are especially looking forward to watching the children grow in ability, skills and confidence! We are going to be making so many amazing memories that we can all treasure as we progress through the year!

Each half term we focus on a different topic to make sure we can fit in lots of exciting things throughout the year. Our topics for this year are ‘All About Me’, ‘Let’s Celebrate!’, ‘Once Upon a Time’ ‘Nature Explorers’, ‘Dangerous Dinosaurs’ and ‘Commotion in the Ocean’

We really encourage our children to embrace our school values in everything they do. They will learn to be empathetic, courageous, passionate, resilient and respectful.

Autumn 1

This term we are looking at the topic ‘All About Me’. We will be exploring and finding out all about your child’s and their friends’ interest and hobbies. We will also be looking at different families and talking about ‘Who is in your family?’.

We look forward to supporting and helping your child develop as they progress through the year. We can’t wait to learn lots of new exciting things and have lots of fun!

Autumn 2

This term we are exploring our topic ‘Let’s Celebrate’. We will be looking at a range of celebrations such as, Halloween, Bonfire Night, Diwali, Birthdays and Christmas. We will compare how these different festivals are celebrated and look at the differences between them.

We will be completing lots of different activities such as creating our own bonfire Art work, making some diva lamps and of course create our own advent calendar in the run to Christmas!

We are excited to explore these different celebrations and see the children progress in the new skills they are learning.

Spring 1

This term we are exploring our topic ‘Once Upon a Time’. We will be exploring different aspects of learning through Traditional Tales such as, ‘The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man’. We will be exploring new skills such as completing a wanted poster, create our own junk model houses, and even baking some of our own bread!

We are excited to explore these new skills and see the children progress this term!

Reading

The children will be receiving reading books from school and it is important that you read with them daily. This will help support their phonics knowledge and reading skills.

It is also important that you bring their book in their school book bag daily, so we can read with your child if required.

Your child’s book will be changed on a Friday.

We are also sending home some High Frequency Words. These are words that we encourage the children to learn by sight! Please help support them with learning them.
